Burnley comes into this match being in a great form, as the side recorded their fifth consecutive victory last Saturday afternoon. It was at home against Leicester with a 2:1 result, as they entered the game as strong as possible.
Home team had the double lead already after first ten minutes, thanks to goals from Wood and Long. They remained threatening in the first halftime, however as the time progressed the Foxes had more and more ball possession. Its kinda logical since the home team was happy with the result and the guests had to chase it.
Second part was spent in pretty much domination of Leicester, however they could only reduce the deficit in 72nd minute via Vardy. It was second consecutive victory at home, as the side previously surprised probably everyone with three wins in a row away from home. They are now just two points behind Europa League placed Arsenal and surely wont give up on that race that easily.
Home side will play in 4-4-2 formation with Barnes and Wood as forwards. Central defender Ben Mee (29/0) is injured and out, same goes for defensive midfielder Steven Defour (24/1), midfielder Robbie Brady (15/1) and offensive Jonathan Walters (3/0). Offensive midfielder Scott Arfield is doubtful for now. Their coach Sean Dyche has no reason to change much for this clash.
Chelsea is going through really quite difficult period in last couple of months, having actually just two victories in Premier League in last six round of Premier League. Most recently, they managed to overpower Southampton with a 3:2 result away from home last Saturday evening.
However, the game started really bad for them as Tadic brought the hosts into the lead in 21st minute and even though the Blues had more of the ball possession, they really struggled to respond in attack. The Saints even took the lead double in 60th minute thanks to a goal from Bednarek and the Blues found their form and attacking quality only in last twenty minutes of the game.
However, once they got it going Giroud with two goals and Hazard have managed to revert the scoreline within eight minutes, from 70th to 78th minute. Overall, the match could have ended way different but the players of Chelsea showed their class when it was needed the most.
The team now stands at fifth position at the table with eight points less than fourth and Champions League placed Tottenham and their next FA Cup game is pretty much the last way to bring some joy to their fans.
Guests are set to play in 3-4-2-1 formation most likely using Giroud as central striker. Barkley and Pedro could be their offensive midfielders. Performance of Marcos Alonso is in doubt after he has been charged for a violent conduct by the English FA. Injured and out are defenders Ethan Ampadu (1/0) and David Luiz (10/1). Chelsea may rotate here since they await FA Cup semifinal on Sunday.
Burnley have won their last 5 matches (Premier League).
Burnley have scored at least 2 goals in their last 5 matches (Premier League).
With the hosts being so close to the European exit which surely means quite a lot for a club of their reputation - I cant see them giving a really tough battle to the Blues. Chelsea remains a favorite, however with them having important FA Cup game next weekend, I wouldnt take their positive result here for granted.
However plays for them will want to impress the manager, while the hosts anyway remain in a very good form especially when speaking about scoring goals. Having that in mind and also current odds, both teams to score seems like the most valuable option for this clash.
